Bringing The Site Back

After a lapse of almost 9 months I have decided to bring the site back online. New pictures to come soon!

I have really been enjoying using my 60mm prime for macro work. I feel that the pictures capture closeness to the subjects in a way that is just close enough to bring the wow factor, but far enough away to give context for the photos and keep them relatable.

I have certainly also been feeling out of practice, especially with dialing in the settings correctly to get crisp photos. But even approaching my subjects and getting the right angle, I have been feeling the rust cracking off my photography joints.

I have also started a new chapter of my relationship with local pollinators - learning about how to identify local bees. I bought a book, β€œThe Bees in Your Back Yard,” which has opened my eyes to the possibility that I may some day at least be able to identify what bees I see. Previously I had been feeling overwhelmed by the variety of pollinators I saw on flowers, but the more experience I get, and the more I challenge myself to look up and identify the species I encounter, the less daunted I become.

I'll be posting photos from 2026 later today, and adding older photos eventually as well. I have a goal to include more information with my photos over time so as to form a sort of photo-journal.
